Air Fryer Whole Chicken with Herbs

Recipe for Roast Chicken in the Air Fryer with Herbs – The
easiest and most reliable way to prepare a whole chicken with crispy skin and
juicy, soft meat is to air fry it.

Why We Adore This Recipe for Chicken

Why not air cook an entire chicken when you can air fry
almost anything?

A full roasting chicken cooked in an air fryer is excellent
because it allows the skin to become extra golden-brown and crispy while
safeguarding the flesh, keeping it juicy and moist within. Additionally, the
air fryer circulates the heat, which aids in producing uniform colour and
crispiness across the entire item, not just the top. Additionally, employing
this table-top marvel device frees up the oven for side dishes!

When air frying a full chicken, the most crucial thing to
keep in mind is that it MUST FIT inside your device without hitting the top
heating coil. If you have a little air fryer, you might need to purchase a
smaller chicken.

The second and, by far, most crucial factor in determining if
your chicken is done is the interior temperature. Chicken should be cooked to
an internal temperature of 165°F. Before your chicken is done, check it early
and as often as necessary.

Components Required

  •  A whole roasting chicken, either fresh or defrosted if it
    was frozen.
  • Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  •  Olive
oil or your preferred high-heat roasting oil, such as avocado or sunflower oil.

Note: A 3 to 4-pound chicken should follow our cooking
recommendations. However, as long as it fits in your air fryer, you can roast a
smaller or larger chicken. The internal temperature of a chicken is crucial
because the cooking time will differ if you purchase a 2-pound or a 6-pound
chicken, respectively.

How to Prepare a Whole Chicken for Air Frying

On a chopping board or in a baking dish, spread out a whole,
3 to 4-pound roasting chicken. To get rid of any gizzards, inspect the
chicken’s front and rear cavities. Dry the chicken’s skin by patting it with a
paper towel.

Make sure to saturate the skin’s surface with olive oil
evenly on all sides as you rub.

Combine the Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and garlic
powder in a small bowl. To provide a uniform coating, turn the chicken around
as you sprinkle the seasoning mixture over it. (If necessary, use your hands to
thoroughly cover the chicken with seasoning.)

Place the breast side up of the whole chicken in the air
fryer basket. Set the air fryer to 360°F and then shut it.

Depending on its size, air fried the chicken for 30 to 50
minutes. Stop the air fryer after 30 minutes and place a meat thermometer deep
inside the breast and thigh flesh. Remove the chicken from the air fryer basket
if the internal temperature has reached 165°F. If not, close the basket and
cook for an additional 5 to 10 minutes at a time until the food is finished.

Before carving the chicken to serve, give it at least 10
minutes to cool.

Ingredients:

  •  a whole chicken weighing 3 to 4 pounds.
  •  2 teaspoons of Italian seasoning;
  •  1 tablespoon of olive
    oil.
  • Salt, 1 teaspoon.
  •  1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder;
  •  1/2 teaspoon of black
    pepper.

Instructions.

1. Lay out a whole, three to four-pound roasting chicken on
a chopping board or in a baking dish. To get rid of any gizzards, inspect the
chicken’s front and back cavities. Dry the chicken’s skin by patting it with a
paper towel.

2. Be sure to evenly spread olive oil over the skin’s
surface on all sides.

3. Arrange the Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and garlic
powder in a small bowl. To provide a uniform coating, turn the chicken as you
sprinkle the seasoning mixture over it. (If necessary, use your hands to
thoroughly cover the chicken with seasoning.)

4. Place the whole chicken, breast side up, in the air fryer
basket. Set the air fryer to 360°F and then shut it. Depending on its size, air
fried the chicken for 30 to 50 minutes. Stop the air fryer after 30 minutes and
place a meat thermometer deep inside the breast and thigh flesh. Remove the
chicken from the air fryer basket if the internal temperature has reached
165°F. If not, close the basket and cook for an additional 5 to 10 minutes at a
time until the food is finished.

5. Before carving the chicken to serve, let it cool for at
least 10 minutes.

Notes:

After the first 30 minutes, you may need to cover the
chicken with foil if it is huge and barely fits in the air fryer basket.
Because it is so close to the heating coil, this will prevent the top from
becoming too black.
